Main Problems in the Bengali Muslim Community
After extensive research on the main problems faced by the Bengali Muslim community, the lack of modern education has been identified as a key issue.
Is there a strong reluctance towards education in the Muslim community? The answer is certainly no. The larger Muslim community considers education a duty according to the Quran. The first command in the Quran is "Iqra," meaning "Read." Muslim parents do send their children to schools and madrasas for education.
But despite this, why is the Muslim community still plagued by the curse of illiteracy?
Why are there so many dropouts among school students in this community?
Why do most students drop out before completing secondary education?
Why is their presence in government and private jobs so low?
Why is there no progress in business?
Why is the Muslim community so far behind in arts and literature?
We need to reflect on these issues
"O Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and save us from the fire of Hell."
Our overall life encompasses both this world and the hereafter. Our foremost desire in this world is well-being. Without success in this world, achieving success in the hereafter is difficult. To succeed in this world, there is no alternative to being educated with modern, relevant knowledge. Our children need to gain modern education alongside religious education. They need to learn computers, spoken English, languages, and understand science. Only then will the Muslim community be able to compete.
After independence, the condition of the Muslim community in West Bengal became dire. They were so backward in education, health, and culture that finding a way out became very difficult. Residential missions were established in the 1980s. Through these, the education rate increased within a very limited segment, but the benefits of these missions did not reach everyone.
For example, areas known as Ostagar Mohallas (Tailor neighborhoods) and neighboring districts, known for their traditional tailoring business, experienced some financial stability, but remained very backward in education. Even though mission-madrasas were established in various parts of West Bengal with support from these areas, a residential mission was not established here. We have felt this absence.
You are aware that Al Ameen Shamsun Academy has successfully provided semi-residential education in several districts for the past 24 years. Our next goal is to establish a full residential educational institution from Class 5 to Class 10 (Boys' section). Alhamdulillah, we have made significant progress towards this goal. From the academic year 2025, we will start a new educational method that will truly bring success in both this world and the hereafter, Inshallah.
Al Ameen Shamsun Academy, with 24 years of experience in running a semi-residential school, will begin a full residential school from the 2025 academic year. Our experience has shown that even though children perform well up to Class 5, many of them struggle in higher classes. The reasons are
Lack of good private tutoring
Excessive addiction to mobile phones
Environmental factors that hinder studies despite having potential
The current education system aims to make children self-reliant. The old standard of education was to secure a respectable job. The current standard is to develop students in such a way that they can establish themselves socially and economically through independent thinking and actions. This is why we have decided to establish a full residential school, building on our experience with the semi-residential model. Here, students will be guided and supervised 24 hours a day by skilled teachers, helping them build disciplined lives and contribute to the development of their families, society, and country. We earnestly seek your trust and support in this effort.
